1. Coaches of Louisville: Chuck Medley (St. X High School)
For episode one of Coaches of Louisville we had the opportunity to interview Coach Chuck Medley. Coach Medley's relationship with running began in high school when he competed for DeSales High School. His coaching career began when he became St. X's assistant coach in 1990. He became the head coach in 1998 where he coached the team to 10 team state titles (3 track & 7 XC) and 18 individual state champions between the two sports. Coach Medley is proud of all of those accomplishments, but he made it clear he is even prouder of the men those athletes became. His ultimate goal as a coach was to train up the next generation of men through the sport of running and this interview is evidence that he achieved his ultimate goal. This interview was conducted by Coach Medley's assistant coach Rob Young and former athletes Sam Lewis, Chris Striegel, Thomas Cave, and Connor Sheryak. Each of these men jumped at the opportunity to interview their coach because they wanted everyone to see a glimpse of the man and coach who impacted their lives so drastically. We hope you enjoy this episode of Coaches of Louisville.
