6. Runners of Louisville: Zack Beavin
For this episode of our Runners of Louisville segment former St. X Cross Country Coach and current Swag's employee Rob Young interviews his former athlete @zbeavin Zack's passion for the sport was developed at an early age. Some of his first races were the Triple Crown before he became heavily involved in cross country and track. Zack was on multiple state championship teams while at St. X before he pursued his collegiate running career. His collegiate career began at Belmont University before he settled in at University of Kentucky. Zack characterizes himself as a strength runner and has always known he could hold a solid pace for many miles. Once Zack graduated college he began transitioning his training to the roads and focusing on longer distances. Zack qualified for and competed in the 2020 Marathon Olympic Trails where he raced the best U.S. Marathoners. He has a Marathon P.R. of 2:18. After seeing some of what Zack could do in the Marathon distance he decided to take it a step further and begin pursuing his ultra marathon dreams. Zack is now the 4th fastest American for the 50 Mile distance clocking a time of 5:03:06 at the Tunnel Hill 50 Miler and shattering the course record.
