If Walls Could Talk
In October of this year we (Swags Sport Shoes) will be celebrating 40 years of business. And since 1985 Swags Sport Shoes has been located in the Auburndale Village Shopping Center. It started out as a single storefront and now decades later it is comprised 3 store fronts. Swag’s is what it is today because of the loyalty found in Louisville. There have been countless memories, PR’s, and friendships formed because of this store. This is what leads me to ask the question, if walls could talk, what would they say?
Would the original pepto bismol walls and black racing stripe tell the story of how the paint colors and stripe came to be?
Would they talk about the countless hours Wally Bright spent in the store?
Would it talk about the markings and the countless employees who have walked through the aisles of Swag’s and left their mark on the store forever?
Would they talk about the Saturday morning running groups comprised of athletes from Butler, North Hardin, Holy Cross and more ready to pay their dues to be the best athletes they could be?
Would memories be shared of people who met for Kentucky Derby Festival training runs?
Would they tell the stories behind the names Lloyd, Rookie, Billy Bones, Baines, Sumo Sid, Spinning Tommy, Peppy, Papa G, and more?
Would they talk about the Annual Sidewalk sale, Chacos and Tacos, Ladies Nights and other events?
Would they talk about the changes going on in our society as well as the design of the store?
Our hope is that these walls are filled with stories which represent the heart and soul of Swags Sport Shoes. That we are about people and not a purchase.
So we are asking you, our family and friends to share a memory or story you have which are embedded into our walls. Without your memories our walls will be silent.
So please share your memory on this post, email them to us, or write us a note. We are looking forward to walking down memory lane with you.
