Giving Tuesday

Looking for an opportunity to give back during the Holidays? Giving Tuesday (celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving), is a movement to create an international day of charitable giving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season. Beginning as the simple idea of a day for people to do good,Giving Tuesday has grown to an international day of generosity. Last year, over 400 million dollars was raised during Giving Tuesday through online donations alone. We encourage our customers to join in the giving spirit and participate in Giving Tuesday. Here are some ways to contribute this season through Swags.

  1. Balega Words of Grit and Grace: $1 from the sale of every pair of Balega Grit and Grace socks benefits the Breast Cancer Prevention Partners. 

  2. Balega Lesedi Socks: Proceeds from purchases of the Balega Lesedi socks support the Ethembeni School, a home for disabled and disadvantaged children in KwaZulu, Natal, a providence of South Africa. Each pair includes a handmade bracelet and picture of a child.

  3. The Waterstep Organization: Located in each of our stores is a Waterstep bin. Waterstep is an organization that accepts shoe donations of new or worn shoes. As a Non-Profit organization, Watersteps proceeds go towards water and well repair, sanitation, and hygiene education to provide clean water to families in underprivileged countries such as Liberia, Nigeria, and Uganda. Last year Waterstep helped provide clean water to over 600,000 citizens of these countries.

  4. Shop Local: Shopping at Swag’s allows us to give back to our local running community. We give back through sponsorships of local races such as Throo the Zoo, the Kentucky Derby Festival mini/marathon training group, donations to local sports teams, and donations to local nonprofits such as the Iroquois Hill Runners.
